Welcome to SSTC 2020!

At the 2019 Annual General Meeting, held August 10, 2019, the general opinion of the attending members was that: currently courts were under utilized, and that the Club should seek out options to increase use by adding more active memberships.

Given that the current maximum number of 110 memberships is prescribed within Club By-Laws, and that any change would require a Special Meeting of the Membership with majority approval, the Board of Directors is first seeking an alternative to membership increase by introducing a Social Membership , as an option to free up potentially inactive memberships for new applicants.

As approved by the Board, the special status of Social Membership allows resigned members of the Club to retain their social contact within the Club while surrendering their normal Membership along with the associated court booking privileges.

In short the Social Membership status requires a regular Member to first resign their position within the club, retain their SSCA membership, and pay a one time administrative fee of $50 to continue to receive all communications from the Club, and be invited to all social events of the Club  (currently Opening Social, Ladies’ and/or Gentlemen’s Closing Socials).

Please note that this membership is an option designed solely for members who find they no longer have interest or ability within their family to continue with court play, as any resignation from the Club is irrevocable .

Your annual membership fee is $350 per membership and is due by  Tuesday, June 30th, 2020.  If payment is not received by June 30 – the fee increases to $500. Our Treasurer, Greg Cunningham, is pleased to offer different payment options for your convenience.

The preferred methods for paying for tennis club items are as follows:

• First – Interac bank transfer from your bank. This has the lowest fees to keep costs low. No password is required anymore. Reference your member first and last name in the email. Please email the etransfer to the Treasurer at  sanssoucitc@gmail.com .

• Second – Credit card payments. This option has higher fees, which are added to the member price. Go to the website at  http://www.ssca.info  and select ‘Dues payment’ from the ‘Tennis’ drop down menu.

• Last resort – Cheques are payable to Sans Souci Tennis Club. They can be mailed to the Treasurer Greg Cunningham at 24 Kingsgarden Rd, Etobicoke, ON, M8X 1S6. Please email Greg at   sanssoucitc@gmail.com  when you mail a check, so he knows to look for it.

Note that in accordance with our bylaws, your membership could be forfeited if you have not paid your annual dues by July 1st the following year.

Reminder: Your SSCA membership dues must also be paid yearly in conjunction with being a SSTC member.

This is an urgent call for all SSTC Club Champions from 2008 to 2018 to recall the big win AGAIN! Our Trophies are in need of updating…and…. well…. we cannot remember WHO WON WHAT WHEN. PLEASE send Nancy Bowen your information with the year and what you won ASAP! We kick off the year with this fantastic fun event for all. John Hayes and Ray Murakami kindly organize and host this super fun event. The tournament is for couples – hence the name.

If you are a single and want to play, sign up and they will try to get a partner organized. This event is a super fun tournament pitting North and South Sans Souci against each other with a magnificent trophy and prizes for the most “loving couples”.

Please stand by for further details from John and Ray, but save the date of June 27 ^th , rain date June 28 ^th .

Ladies’ and Men’s round robin play commences the week of June 29 and ends the week of August 31st. The ladies play Mondays from 10:30AM to 12:30PM and the men play Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30AM to 10:30AM. No sign up is required. Ladies are organized by Nancy Bowen and the Men TBA. All skill levels are welcome.

Please sign up for the tournament via email before MAY 30th.

The organizers are TBA so please watch for the email early spring. This is a fun summer long event where our singles and doubles battle it out for top position and the Club Championship. This year your name might make it on the trophy!

We are bringing back our Thursday ladies house league with dinner option after. Please watch for spring details on how to sign up as regular player or sub. We will resurrect the old teams of LOONS and OSPREYS and have some fun afternoon games with a dinner option to rotate around for pot luck summer dinners. Sounds like fun!

Back by popular demand and super fun for all members. No need to sign up. Just come and bring along appetizer and beverages. Play goes from 4:30 to 6:30pm…….. stay as late as you like.

Each event date will be hosted by different member host to organize the event. If you want to volunteer to host please contact Nancy Bowen.

Non players are welcome as well.

This spring we look forward to having all four courts ready and available for use. The newer courts are playing better with more use and we have a new watering initiative in place for this summer. We are also investigating the purchase of new nets this season. So…. no excuses for poor play! We would also like to have balls available for purchase on the honor system. Stay tuned!

Court Booking Rules:

·        The online booking is our primary method of booking. Please use your user name and password to login in at https://engine.gigasports.com/login/sanssouci/

·        Booking Doubles/2 hrs. In addition to your own family membership name, you will be required to book a second family membership name as your opponent. Also, please follow the existing SSTC etiquette when booking morning doubles: Reserve 8:30 to 10:30 or 10:30 to 12:30.

·        Booking Singles/1 hr. Note – select 1 hr., as the default is 2 hrs. Only your family membership name is required i.e. no opponent is entered.

·        Advance booking of one court per family membership per day is allowed. You may book a second court on the day of play, if courts are available.

·        Booking opens 7 days in advance at 8 a.m.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays only doubles booking is permitted from 8:30-10:30 and 10:30-12:30 to ensure maximum court use
