TOA Building Permits & Planning Applications Update April 8, 2020

Following the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Ontario government,on April 3, 2020, released a revised list of businesses classified as essential and
ordered more workplaces to close. The restrictions are aimed at further reducing contact between people, and stopping the spread of COVID-19. Further, the Province of Ontario has suspended all limitation periods and timelines associated with processing planning applications and building permits during the COVID-19
As a result of the revised list of essential businesses and Provincial direction, the Township of The Archipelago is taking the following measures:
1. The building department will continue to receive and process permit applications, but will not be issuing building permits until the Province directs it to do so. The only building inspections that will be conducted at this time,at the discretion of the Chief Building Official, are those deemed essential to existing, open building permits for single family dwellings, semi-detached dwellings, and townhomes.
Permit applications can be emailed to inspection@thearchipelago.on.ca or dropped off through the mail slot at the Township office.
To determine if your building project was deemed essential, please review Ontario’s list of essential workplaces, and call the toll free number if you
require further clarification.
