BOOKS for 2020
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. A compelling novel, about a family torn apart, based on real- life events of kidnapping, illegal adoption and a corrupt orphanage.
July 21st: The Guest Book by Sarah Blake. A family saga centred around a woman struggling with a decision about what to do with an island cottage the family has had for three generations. (Dawn Drayton will present via Zoom at 3:30)
August 4th: The Summer Book by Tove Janssen. The interactions and adventures of a young girl and her grandmother that take place one summer on a tiny island in the Gulf of Finland. (Alice Barton will present via Zoom at 3:30)
August 18th: The Bush Runner: The Adventures of Pierre- Esprit Radisson by Mark Bourrie. A dark adventure story, sourced from Radisson’s journals, about his life in 17th century North America. Winner of the RBC Taylor Prize 2020. (Jacquie Green will present)
August 25th: Surrender: The Call of the American West by Joanna Pocock. A narrative nonfiction work on the changing landscape of the West and the scavenger, rewilder and ecosexual communities , inspired by the author’s two year stay in Montana. (Sharon Earle- Meadows and the author’s sister Kate Pocock will present)
