First Book Club Report 2021

Hello ,

Yesterday 20 of us met via Zoom to listen to Brent Preston, the author of The New Farm, and learn about his activities since his book was published.

He and his wife have taken a step back from actively running the farm and have hired staff to do this. As well as providing them with a better balance to their lives, this has also allowed them to take the lead on issues through the Ecological Farmers Association, the Canadian Organic Growers and Farmers for Climate Solutions.

He was also pleased to report that he has sold the movie rights to his book!

Thanks to Irene Chambers for suggesting his book and contacting him about speaking to our group.

The next Book Club meeting will be on Tuesday July 20th. Janet Burt will lead the discussion on the book Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell.
