Annual Summer Tennis Tournament & Summer Social

Not to be confused with the other fun tournament, it is also time to sign up for the real thing, the Club Tournament.

In traditional fashion, we will be running Men’s and Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Open Singles. To make it more relaxed, less competitive and way more fun, we may require all mixed double pairs to play with your spouse. (Just kidding!)

The Tournament is an important part of the Club’s continuing success and building our tennis community. The more members who play, the more fun it will be! No worries about your play level, we do our best to seed the teams so all have a fair and fun opportunity!! Please sign up by Monday June 24th with Jackie Campbell at jackieanncampbell@gmail.com  or John Hayes at jhayes@rogers.com

Although we do encourage all players to sign up, if you know for certain that you will be unavailable for any protracted length of time during July and August, in consideration of your fellow competitors, please consider deferring until next year. Further details will follow.

The tournament draws will be posted in the Dockhouse the weekend of June 29th. The Tournament rules are below.

The sign up deadline for the tournaments is June 24th. Please sign up by sending an email to Jackie Campbell at jackieanncampbell@gmail.com or John Hayes at jhayes@roger.com indicating the tournament(s) you wish to participate in.

Jackie or John will send you a note confirming receipt of your tournament entry.

You may sign up for Men’s or Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles and/or Open Singles.

The following are the rules that have served us well in the past:

1. Registration for the tournaments is due by June 24, 2019. If there is space available, late registrations will be placed in the tournament until the draw sheets are full.

2.      A win is 2 out of 3 sets for all tournaments. Tiebreaker is to be held at 6/6 in a set.

3.      No substitutions can be made after the 1^st Round.

4.      Players unable to play their 1^st Round games are removed from the tournament.

5.      Any problems or concerns contact John Hayes or Jackie Campbell.

6. The Tournament Finals

In the beginning, The Sans Souci Tennis Club was a small but ambitious group of elite Tennis players who wanted to bring a Grand Slam to Sans Souci. With a winners purse of $50 at LeBlanc’s and a spectacular setting on Georgian Bay they knew they had a tournament that would attract a big draw.  All they needed was a tennis court.

Valerie and Rob Hay, Penny and John Pepperell, John and Kate Gibson, Irene and Dave Chambers and Judy and Peter Hatcher and others, all worked together to launch what is now the most beautiful tennis on Georgian Bay.

You are invited to celebrate 25 years of spectacular tennis in the sunshine with sparkling water, wind whispering trees and fantastic friends that can’t be beat on Saturday, July 6th @ 5:00pm at the Dock House.

Great News! This year’s theme will be a throw back to 1994 where everyone in the tennis community will sign up and contribute a side or dessert to share and the club will fund (and cook) the main course.
