The 61st Sans Souci and Copperhead Regatta

 and Arts and Crafts Show

What a day we had for the 61st annual Sans Souci and Copperhead Regatta.  The weather was perfect and the wind light.  Our day was kicked off with the Arts and Craft show.  There were many entrants this year with more photography entrants than ever.

Our BBQ was headed by Sandy Phillips and we had a few new twists this year.  We added veggie burgers, whole wheat buns, and watermelon.  After the traditional lawn events including the ever so popular “lawn john stuffing” and 3 legged races we headed to the new docks and hit the water for the races.

New this year, the GBLT sponsored the Champlain’s Relay by providing all the prizes and ran the event.  Beau Hatcher revamped the route to incorporate more of the community centre property and made the event safer than ever.  We had nine families enter this event, a record number with the Simmering family taking home the gold.

A few of our generous donations were auctioned off through a blind bid process.  The Claire Murray” loon rug” was much sought after.  Ainsley Gray won it and is loving it!  The proceeds from these items go to the property fund to keep our property beautiful.  If you have a donation for next year please call me, 705-746-1515 or just drop it off at the dock house.

There are a few very special folks I need to thank.  These individuals sponsored major parts of this event.  The GBA Foundation and Ann Johnston and Ray Murakami provided all the prizes for the kids.  These are always well received with the little ones who all win one for going in the under 6 events.  Thanks so much!!!!

The BBQ was sponsored once again by Dennis Hauck of Royal LePage Realty and the SSCA.  Chris Goulding of Moon Island Construction was a new sponsor this year.  Chris provided all the beverages.   Rick Tomlinson of Prudential Sadie Moranis provided the watermelon and freezies for the kids.  Thanks gentleman, we were all well feed.

We had many prize donations this year.  These were given to lucky folks who registered with the membership table.  Please keep these local businesses in mind as they are keen supporters of the SSCA and this event:
